John Saxon Dies at 83
Actor John Saxon has died at the age of 83, as confirmed via media outlets. Saxon, who portrayed Donald Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, and then a version of himself in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, was a fan favorite of the franchise and will be deeply missed.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Motion Picture and Television Fund.
Update: Saxon’s Nightmare co-stars also fondly remembered working with him as posted on Twitter:
RIP John Saxon. My charming costar in A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, DREAM WARRIORS and WES CRAVEN’S NEW NIGHTMARE. John was my link to Hollywood’s Golden Age. In 3 Nightmare films John Saxon played the tough guy, the distant father and the hard nosed cop but I came to know him as the kindest, most encouraging and dignified gentleman, father and husband to Gloria. That shooting star you see tonight is him. pic.twitter.com/Tw31HNh88x
