Joss Whedon Names Dreams Warriors’ Character among His Top 5 Favorites

Joss Whedon, of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and The Avengers fame, talked to Entertainment Weekly (#1226) about his top five favorite horror characters. Surprisingly, Jennifer Rubin made his list with her portrayal as Taryn White in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. He also went on to give props to the third NOES film. Here is what he had to say:

“She was so badass. [Dream Warriors] changed the dynamic of the horror movie in a way that I appreciate—the idea that the people facing horror could be empowered by it and confront what they were fighting. It’s very Ur-Buffy as well.”

Other characters that made Whedon’s list include Ian Holm as the android Ash (Alien), Shawnee Smith as Meg Penny (The Blob), Donald Pleasence as The Priest (Prince of Darkness), and Chimp with a Razor Blade (Phenomena).

Whedon’s latest project, The Cabin in the Woods, is now available on DVD.
