Los Angeles, CA, April 2014 \u2014 Once again, the doctors of Broadcast Thought, H. Eric Bender, M.D., Praveen R. Kambam, M.D., and Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D., return to WonderCon for another unprecedented panel. On Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Room 208, they will team up with very special guest, Mark Swift, co-writer of Friday the 13th<\/em> (2009) and Freddy vs. Jason<\/em>, to present \u201cFlashback to the Slash Pack! Inside the Minds of Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Jason Voorhees.\u201d<\/p>\n

The panelists consider if Michael is simply a sociopathic stalker, Freddy merely a manipulative monster, and Jason just a killing machine. Or is there more to these slashers when we slice below the surface? Can we make sense of a vengeful boogeyman\u2019s sister obsession? Could fire turn a sexually violent predator into a sadistic serial killer? Did \u201cmommy issues\u201d and bullying birth a brutish butcher? Who\u2019s the most dangerous killer, and which, if any, might be considered insane? Discover the answers to these and other questions, and come take a stab at these iconic slashers!<\/p>\n

While having fun with these fan favorites, the doctors will confront common misconceptions about violence and mental illness.<\/p>\n

\nBroadcast Thought is a creative collective of three physicians, H. Eric Bender, M.D., Praveen R. Kambam, M.D., and Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D., whose goals include shifting the paradigm of how the media and entertainment industries portray mental health issues. The doctors serve as creative consultants and subject matter experts to the media and entertainment industries and co-create mental health-related content. They have been featured in the New York Times<\/em>, Time<\/em>, the Huffington Post<\/em>, Wired<\/em>, ABC News<\/em>, Entertainment Weekly<\/em>, and Discover<\/em>. About Mark Swift<\/strong>
\nMark Swift (along with his writing partner Damian Shannon) wrote the box office hits Friday the 13th<\/em> (2009) and Freddy vs. Jason<\/em>, and was the first writer on the animated hit Shark Tale<\/em>. They are currently working on a new original horror project for New Line Cinema, an Untitled science-fiction project for Skydance productions, and are co-producing a comedy for Paramount Pictures starring Peter Dinklage. They have also co-written a number of projects currently in development, including \u201cVikings\u201d for Disney; the 1950s noir \u201cHawaiian Dick,\u201d for director Frank Coraci; and an adaptation of Howard Chaykin\u2019s graphic novel \u201cPower & Glory.\u201d<\/p>\n
