This anthology-styled series was presented in a format similar to popular science fiction series <em>The Twilight Zone<\/em>, with Freddy Krueger hosting each episode. 44 episodes were produced and most of their plots do not feature Freddy but establish Springwood as a town of scandal, murder, and the supernatural. Robert Englund cited budget cuts and early, badly chosen time slots as the reason the for series\u2019 cancellation.<\/p>\n<p>Warner Bros. released select episodes of <em>Freddy\u2019s Nightmares<\/em> on home video over the years. The majority of these releases are in VHS format and are available in several regions. Warner attempted to release the series on DVD in 2003, beginning with the first-three episode sampler <em>Freddy\u2019s Nightmares Volume 1<\/em>. Unfortunately, sales for Volume 1 did not meet Warner\u2019s expectations and they abandoned all subsequent releases.<\/p>\n<p>Although the home video market was no longer practical, Warner Bros. did try an alternate method to bring <em>Freddy\u2019s Nightmares<\/em> to horror fans: the Internet. AOL Television featured all episodes of <em>Freddy\u2019s Nightmares<\/em> from 2005\u201307.
