The fans hate us, they hate our movies\u2026 We have never been welcomed with open arms.\u201d Nightmare will not be an origin story, per se, but the origin of Freddy Krueger is indeed crucial to making the movie work, especially for audiences that haven\u2019t seen the original. \u201cWe did an origin story in our second CHAINSAW movie,\u201d said Fuller. \u201cI think if it\u2019s a straight-ahead origin story, it\u2019s problematic because people know how the movie\u2019s going to end.\u201d \u201cThe balance is, \u2018How can we get as much of Freddy Krueger\u2019s background into this story so that people who are not huge fans know what\u2019s going on and at the same time satisfy fans like yourself?\u2019 That balance is a challenging thing to find and we\u2019re still working on finding it. I\u2019m not sure that we\u2019ve cracked it exactly yet.\u201d Much like FRIDAY, the producers don\u2019t plan to make fans wait too long for the iconic character to surface in proper form. \u201cIt\u2019s not going to be on page 75 that he puts on the sweater and the gloves,\u201d says Fuller. \u201cWhat really excites us about NIGHTMARE is that line between reality and the dream and the audience never knowing when you\u2019re in a dream and [when] it\u2019s literally too late.\u201d The nature of a NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake will require some CG work, but Fuller and Form are quick to promise not to overdo it. \u201cThere\u2019s an enormous amount we can do in-camera,\u201d says Fuller. \u201cWhen you get into the dream world, which is amazing, you use CG, but you don\u2019t use too much of it.\u201d \u201cThe fans hate the CG,\u201d adds Form. \u201cThey hate it.
