Announcement: Forum Closure (Updated Nov. 22)
After almost six years online, this website’s forum will close. Several factors contributed to this decision: forum activity has been at an all-time low, member sign-ups have decreased by over 85%, and the forum’s software is woefully out of date. Several attempts to upgrade the software and keep the database intact have failed, so it’s only a matter of time before the current forum begins to experience serious problems. This issue, along with the low activity, pressed the tough decision to finally close the forum. The final day the forum will be accessible to everyone is Friday, November 30. Afterward, the forum and its content will be unavailable.
I put together a quick Q&A that might help answer any questions you have. If you have any questions about the forum closure not addressed in this Q&A, please use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.
- Is it possible the forum will return?
Yes, a new forum opening in the future is possible but only if the website sees a significant uptick in visitors. Time will tell if fans want a new community forum. - I have several private messages I want to keep. Will I still have access to them?
No; not after November 30. Please log in and collect any information, posts, links, PMs, or other content you want to keep. - What will happen to the forum’s posts and other content?
The database containing all of this information will be retained until an upgrade solution is found or it becomes necessary to delete. Exclusive forum content (like cast interviews) are available under the proper website sections. - Does this mean there will not be a fan presence on the website?
No. The Fans section will remain active, along with the website’s social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Comments will also be re-enabled on the website, so you can post there too.
My sincerest thanks to those members who have been pillars of the forum. Thank you for your support and for all of the articles, reviews, news items, announcements, photos and even criticism you have given over the years. Your contributions and passionate participation made the forum here a true fan community! I hope you will still continue to visit the website and post under the comments every so often.
I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped manage and moderate the forum over the years. Forums require a lot of attention, patience, and time. Only with the dedication of the following fans was it possible for the forum to remain open: Diandra L., Freddy’s Revenge, MOYD, Rob Nimmo, Jon Piper, Punky, Jed Raybould, Ricky Schmidt, The Doctor, and Esten Urbantke. On behalf of all forum members and website visitors, thank you.
I will definitely miss not having a forum presence for this website, but I will always remember the past 5+ years and how affirming and great they have been. Thank you all so much for making it possible.
Update: Resurrection is a theme revisited time and again in the Nightmare on Elm Street series. It makes sense then that a forum dedicated to said series would undergo one of its own. Fans of the forum issued many impassioned pleas to find a way to keep the community alive, and every one of them was heard. It took considerable time to find a workable solution, but I am very pleased to announce the forum will survive–a new, upgraded forum is now in place to carry on the legacy of the old one!
