    Premise: In 2005, Avatar Press began releasing titles from New Line Cinema’s “House of Horror” license, which includes A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Platinum Dune’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. To kick off their titles, Avatar released one-shot “special” issues serving as an introduction to the New Line characters and premises.

    Writer Brian Pulido, the bloody maestro, teams up with artist Sebastian (Hypothetical Lizard) Fiumara on Jason X, the horror story of a twisted super-powered amalgamation of Jason Voorhees and future technology! Set in 2455, Uber-Jason is brought to Earth II. Kristen, a bio-engineer, needs tissue samples from Uber-Jason in the hopes that his regenerative abilities can save her and her loved ones. She is convinced she can contain his rage. Big mistake! Uber-Jason unleashes a torrent of high-tech terror and gore!

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): Continuing from the end of Jason X, what looks like a meteor crashes on Earth II in 2455. The couple who watched the “falling star,” investigates the scene, and turned on by their discovery, begin to have sex. Uber-Jason emerges from the crash site and kills the couple. However, the scene quickly changes, and Jason finds himself back at Camp Crystal Lake on present day earth. He continues his slaughter, killing all those present. Again, the scene shifts and Jason sees his mother’s grave. While determining his situation, Jason is swallowed up by nanite technology. Afterward, it is revealed that Jason is imprisoned in a scientific lab and being tested on. Kristen, a bio-engineer, works quickly to gather a sample of Jason’s tissue. She and her android assistant, Michelle, discuss Jason’s regenerative abilities, and reveal that the surviving crew from Jason X are dead. Kristen, convinced Jason could “help” her situation, manipulated their holo-decks remotely. When the crew thought they had set a course for Earth II, they in fact set a course for Kristen’s lab instead. She has little time to mourn the crew’s passing however, as Jason breaks free from his restraints and begins to destroy the lab. After taking out Michelle, he sets his sights on Kristen, with his mother’s “voice” driving his actions. Unlike before, Jason’s mother’s voice can be heard by those near him. Kristen escapes his grasp and makes it to a medical bay, where her lover, Neil, lays severely injured from a prior injury. She uses the nanites to inject him with Jason’s tissue sample, in the hopes he will regain his health, so they can repopulate the world they are on. Knowing time is short; she lures Jason to a launch pad and tricks him into a shuttle, which she then launches into deep space. Kristen returns to an awakened Neil, thinking her gamble paid off. Neil quickly turns the tables on her, stabbing her in the stomach and revealing Jason’s mother is in control. In mother’s “voice”, he blames her for their situation and slits his own throat, leaving both to die on the floor. Meanwhile, Jason’s shuttle makes contact with a ship called S.S. Fun Club and docks. After the bay doors open, Jason begins killing the partiers aboard.

    Story: Chapter Two: The Silent Clown

    Premise: Halloween: NightDance is a four issue mini-series based around the Halloween mythos, with Michael Myers haunting the small town of Russellville, Illinois. This series takes place within the new continuity set into motion with Halloween: H20 and Halloween: Resurrection.

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): At the Halloween carnival, Lisa and her two friends, Sean and Nikki, are enjoying themselves. Lisa stares off into space thinking about an event involving young Daniel. The hurt boy is unconscious at the bottom of stairs, with Lisa at his side, her hands covered with blood. She is soon interrupted by her friends however, and the group decides to ride the carousel. While riding, Lisa notices a shape, Michael Myers, watching them. Panicked, she gets off the ride and sees nothing where the shape stood. Nikki, annoyed by the attention Sean pays Lisa, leaves for home. Meanwhile, Michael stands inside the hall of mirrors, seeing himself as a six-year-old in his Halloween clown costume, then seeing himself as an adult clown, and then seeing Judith. When seeing Judith, he strikes out and shatters the mirror. Later, after shrugging off her feelings of dread, Lisa decides to open her letter from Daniel. Inside, she finds a photograph of a girl who looks like her, with the name Judith written on it in red crayon. Two other crayon drawings accompany the photo, a drawing of a Jack O’ Lantern eating Judith and another depicting Lisa’s death. She and Sean gasp at the horrific drawings. On the other side of town, Ryan arrives at the hospital with the unconscious girl he hit with his car the previous night. The unconscious girl dreams of checking out the house where the “hacksaw incident” happened years ago (as referenced in the original Halloween). She and her boyfriend, Ben, investigate the house, where they discover Michael Myers in the shadows. Meanwhile, Nikki arrives home and begins to make a Jack O’ Lantern. Before she can finish the second eye, she is interrupted by a knock at the door. She opens it and is attacked by Michael. Myers strangles her, shoves an apple in her mouth, draws a clown face on her with red lipstick, and then stabs her in the throat. Back at the hospital, Ryan is distressed about his wife’s whereabouts, and after the police discount his Michael Myers theory, escapes into town. He does not make it far though, taking refuge under a neighborhood tree, not noticing Michael carrying Nikki’s body behind him.

    Premise: Original Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween: H20, True Lies) is back and joined by Busta Rhymes (Shaft) and Tyra Banks (Coyote Ugly) in the terrifying Halloween: Resurrection – the latest in this electrifying horror film series! The reality programmers at DangerTainment (Rhymes, Banks) have selected Rudy (Sean Patrick Thomas – Save the Last Dance), Bill (Thomas Ian Nicholas – American Pie 1 & 2) and a group of thrill-seeking teenagers to spend one fun-filled night in the childhood home of serial killer Michael Myers. But the planned live broadcast turns deadly when their evening of excitement becomes a night of terror as Michael himself decides to crash the party!

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): Three years after the events of Halloween: H20, Laurie Strode has been confined to a mental institution on a count of murder. Flashback sequences reveal Laurie did not really decapitate Michael Myers at the end of the previous film, but rather a paramedic with whom Myers forcefully switched clothing and his mask. Laurie pretends to be heavily medicated, but in reality, dodges her pills and prepares herself for the inevitable confrontation with Michael Myers. When Myers finally does appear, Laurie lures him into a trap on the roof of the institution. Before she can kill him for good however, he turns the tables on her, and stabs her in the back. She gives Michael a kiss, tells him she will see him in hell, and falls off the roof to the ground below, dead.

    A year later, a group of six college students win a competition to appear on a reality show produced by DangerTainment, on which they are to spend Halloween night in the childhood home of Michael Myers. Their mission is to find out what led him to kill. The investigation is done via live broadcast on the internet, with each student wearing a small camera. The participants think the show is entirely for entertainment purposes, and that the stunt will earn them some publicity and scholarship money. While in the house, the students undercover staged “secrets” of Michael’s insanity, only to inadvertently uncover a subterranean lair where Myers has been living for the past 20 years. The event goes horribly wrong however, when Michael returns home and one by one, kills the students and the crew involved in the broadcast.

    Sara Moyer, the only student left alive, uses her PDA and pen pal on the outside to escape the house and into the adjoining garage, where Myers soon follows. After a brief confrontation, Michael is electrocuted and left to die in a conflagration, which destroys the garage. Only Sara Moyer and Freddie Harris, the host of the show, survive the night’s events. Later, Myers’s severely burnt body is taken to a morgue, where a frightened female mortician slowly opens his body bag. He opens his eyes and the mortician screams, just as the screen goes black.

The Jefferson Girl’s Choir is traveling across the state for a revival meeting and makes the horrible mistake of a stop at the Hewitt family General store. They enter a horrifying world of madness and depravity that their bible-fearing beliefs couldn’t prepare them for as Leatherface, Sheriff Hoyt, Old Monty, Luda May and the entire Hewitt clan hunt them down and torture them. Can any of them survive or will they be the new masks of Leatherface?

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): Julie Ann, Marsha, and Sadie scatter, with Leatherface in close pursuit. They manage to outwit their attacker however, by hiding in another part of the barn. Marsha, panicked by Leatherface’s stalking, makes a run for it, leaving Julie Ann and Sadie behind. Leatherface chases after and mercilessly kills her outside the barn. Thinking it safe to escape in the opposite direction, Julie Ann and Sadie are soon discovered and knocked out by the other members of the Hewitt clan. Sheriff Hoyt happens upon Julie Ann’s letter, and along with Luda May, comes up with a plan for its use. When Julie Ann finally comes to, she is tied to a chair, along with Sadie across from her. Old Monty flirts inappropriately with Sadie, and after she refuses his advances, strangles and kills her in front of Julie Ann. Afterward, Leatherface enters the room and Monty calls Julie Ann for himself. Luda May says she will decide “who gets who” over dinner. Later, Luda May and the rest of the Hewitt family hear Monty’s arguments at the dinner table. Tea Lady has also brought Ellie, who sits at a kid’s table in the other room. After a brief exchange, Luda May decides that Julie Ann is Monty’s, and that they best celebrate their “wedding night.” When Monty tries to seduce Julie Ann later that night, she escapes her bonds and beats Monty over the head, knocking him to the floor. She then finds Ellie, and for defense, grabs one of Leatherface’s chainsaws. Julie Ann and Ellie flee the house and make it to the main road, where Julie Ann flags down a car with chainsaw in hand. Both she and Ellie ride away to safety. Some time later, Hoyt gloats while reading the morning newspaper. The headline article details Julie Ann’s murder spree, the bodies of her schoolmates and instructors found inside their bus, and an incriminating letter confessing that sometimes she just “wants to kill” her classmates. Julie Ann has since been committed to a psychiatric institution, where her claims of the murderous Hewitt family go unheard.

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): Sheriff Hoyt questions the remaining choir girls on who is next to meet Leatherface. Julie Ann volunteers, and stabs Hoyt in the hand with the pen she was using earlier, knocking him down in the process. She and one of the other girls, Rosa, escape the Blair Meat facility and into the woods, with Leatherface close behind. The two other girls, Sadie and Marsha, are held at gun point by the staggering Hoyt. While running through the woods, Julie Ann and Rosa notice Ellie being taken into the Tea Lady’s trailer. With Leatherface soon upon them, the two escapees continue to run until Rosa is caught by a bear trap. Julie Ann tries to free her, but is forced to hide when Leatherface arrives. Leatherface murders Rosa with swift diligence and takes her body back to the Hewitt house, where he makes a mask out of her face. Meanwhile, Hoyt has arrived back at the Hewitt home with Sadie and Marsha. Chaining them up in the backyard, he motions to kill Sadie, but is interrupted by Leatherface showing off his new “face”. Disgusted, Hoyt berates Thomas on wanting to wear a girl’s face, which angers Luda May, who then orders them both inside the house. After Hoyt and Leatherface go inside, Julie Ann appears and rescues the two captives. The three girls manage to escape and take refuge in a nearby barn, where they discuss why these events are happening to them. During the discussion, Sadie reveals Julie Ann’s criminal record is true, a result of saving Sadie from the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of their father. Just as Sadie apologizes for her rude behavior earlier, Leatherface bursts in with his chainsaw at the ready.

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): Summer 1972, a small school bus has entered the small town of Fuller, Texas. Aboard, are five students from the Jefferson Girl’s Choir, their instructors Mr. and Mrs. Mislap, and the Mislap’s young daughter Ellie. One of the students, Julie Ann, writes a letter to her father, while the other girls harass her about her “criminal” history. Julie Ann’s sister, Sadie, infers their father was less than perfect and berates Julie Ann for still caring. While the girls continue to pester Julie Ann, the bus suddenly gets a flat tire. Mr. Mislap, not having a spare tire on board, walks to find help. After a short journey, he comes across the Blair Meat packing facility, and while wandering around inside for help, is quickly murdered by Leatherface. Later, after nightfall, Mrs. Mislap leaves the bus in search of her husband, only to suffer the same fate. While the girls wait for the Mislaps to return, they are soon found by Sheriff Hoyt. Hoyt, in his usual crude and abusive manner, investigates their bus and plants a tiny bag of marijuana, which he then uses as an excuse to take the girls into custody. After rounding up the frightened troop, Hoyt drives the girls to the Blair Meat facility, where he locks the five girls in a meat freezer and hands over Ellie to the Tea Lady. One of the girls, Louise, continually calls for help, beating on the freezer door. Hoyt, annoyed, releases Louise and let’s Leatherface dispose of her in front of the other choir girls. Afterward, he mentions to the sobbing girls that Thomas didn’t like her, and questions who’s next.

    Premise: Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash was originally the proposed sequel to the hit film Freddy vs. Jason. Jeff Katz, formerly of New Line Cinema, wrote the original treatment in late 2003 for the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash project. This treatment added the character of Ashley (Ash) Williams from the Evil Dead film series; giving audiences an already established hero to take on the two villains. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash was New Line’s best idea on how to continue the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises, but Sam Raimi (Evil Dead writer/director) decided to not let New Line use Ash in the planned sequel. Due to an agreement could not be reached between the different camps concerning the use of the Ash character, Wildstorm Publishing and Dynamite Entertainment came together to release the sequel as a comic book limited series titled: Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash. The first issue (of six) was released in November 2007, with subsequent issues released monthly.

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): Jason, now in the resurrected hands of his dead victims, fights to break free from their grasp. Freddy watches, and amused, summons one of Ash’s “Freddy” hands to drive Jason’s machete through his chest. Jason eventually breaks free and pulls the machete out, leaving him weakened on the floor. Freddy then turns his attention back to the Necronomicon, only to find it and Ash missing. Enraged, he shouts out at Ash. Meanwhile, Ash has managed to escape the Voorhees house and into the woods with the book. After running into a clearing, he is attacked by Deadite possessed trees and crows. Freddy, now able to manipulate reality, used Ash’s memories to bring out the Deadite force. After eating crow, Ash uses his chainsaw to free himself from the assault and meets back up with Caroline, who is the lone survivor of Jason’s earlier attack. Ash informs Caroline of the book’s ability to open a portal, which could be used to send Freddy and Jason to the Deadite’s dimension for all eternity. As they discuss their options, the book flips open, revealing a young Pamela Voorhees using the book to resurrect her dead son. Ash, annoyed, hands the book over to Caroline, telling her to find the correct incantation for the portal. Just as she begins, Freddy’s face appears in the clouds above, prompting the two to flee back to the Voorhees house for shelter. When they arrive, they look back and notice the Voorhees house is no longer there, but rather, the house at 1428 Elm Street. Three little girls in white dresses are jump roping out front, singing Freddy’s familiar nursery rhyme. Ash warns the little girls to run, but is soon attacked by the demonized children. While Ash is tied up with the three girls, Freddy opens the front door and grabs Caroline, dragging her in the house. Ash quickly uses his chainsaw to cut down the kids and rushes after her. Inside, Freddy threatens Caroline to hand over the book, just as Jason bursts back onto the scene. Freddy uses pieces of the house against Jason, effectively battering him to a standstill. With Freddy’s attention turned toward Jason, Caroline attempts to utter the words to open the portal. Jason however, realizing what she is doing, reaches over and snatches the book. Ash arrives moments after, and blasts Jason pointblank in the head with his gun, revealing Jason’s disfigured face. Unrelenting, Ash chops off Jason’s hand with the chainsaw, freeing the Necronomicon. Jason, mimicking Ash’s chainsaw hand, takes his machete and shoves it, blade out, in his bloody stump. Caroline promptly escapes the house with the book, while Ash and Jason square off. Jason quickly brushes Ash aside, throwing him through one of the front windows, out of the house. With Ash out of the way, Jason engages Freddy. As the two villains battle, the house collapses upon them.

    Fuller, Texas. Summer 1972. Three escaped convicts, along with a few girls along for the ride, are joy riding across rural Texas robbing banks, heading for Mexico. When they stop to rob the Hewitt family General store, they enter a horrifying world of madness and depravity that even a maximum security prison couldn’t prepare them for as Leatherface, Sheriff Hoyt, Old Monty and the entire Hewitt clan hunt them down. It gets messy. This is bleeding-edge horror as only Lady Death creator Brian Pulido can deliver it with art by the critically-acclaimed, fan-favorite Jacen Burrows.

    Plot Breakdown (spoilers): A young girl is held captive in the basement of the Hewitt house in Fuller, Texas. When trying to escape through a basement window, she is violently killed by the chainsaw wielding Leatherface. Afterward, Sheriff Hoyt notes that the girl didn’t like Thomas. Meanwhile, it is 1972, and three escaped convicts, Hardy Miller, Rufus Kimoni, and Ellery Watts are trying to make it to the Mexican border with their two female companions, Darlene and Charity. After driving into Fuller, they stop their car at the infamous gas station run by Luda May Hewitt. To get some quick cash, Hardy and Rufus attempt to rob Luda May, only to find out she has no money in the register. When the group tries to escape, they find their unattended car has been destroyed. While Hardy and Darlene look for help, Ellery and Charity go wandering, and Rufus tries to get answers from Luda May. In response to Rufus’s rude behavior, Luda May murders Rufus by cutting his throat with a cleaver. Later, Hardy and Darlene find the Hewitt house and enter, only to be confronted by Old Monty. While Hardy and Darlene are “guests” in the Hewitt residence, Leatherface catches up with Ellery and Charity, killing Ellery and leaving Charity on the run. Charity, running through the woods, makes it to the familiar trailer owned by the Tea Lady. When asking the Tea Lady for help, the Tea Lady mentions she senses Charity is pregnant and restrains her until Leatherface arrives. Upon arriving at the Hewitt house, Charity witnesses Leatherface taking Darlene into his back room, while Sheriff Hoyt has Hardy kill himself. Charity miscarries, due to the panic, and in the calamity, manages to escape into the woods with Leatherface close behind. After an exhausting run, Charity jumps into a nearby stream and floats toward a shallow waterfall, where Leatherface stands waiting.
