I remember I always used to look at these whenever I went to the video store. Apart from "Freddy's Revenge" and the "Dream Warriors" releases, most of the U.S. and Australian releases are pretty much the same.

The earlier films had the most dodgiest art on the covers 🤣 but I noticed it a lot even with other franchises (The Halloween VHS covers were awful too, almost badly bootlegged covers). I dig the New Nightmare one
As for New Nightmare, it indeed had a more polished and intriguing cover compared to some of the earlier films in the franchise. It was a unique entry in the series, taking a meta approach that blurred the lines between fiction and reality, so the cover art reflected that distinctiveness.
