A Nightmare on Elm Street / Re: Where's Scream Factory when you need them?
« on: September 03, 2022, 08:57:33 AM »
I'm kind of past the point of needing anything too extensive (from any franchise). Years go by, memories get fuzzy, and the people involved can only tell the same stories worded a little differently so many times. But it does suck that there are no official commentaries for parts 2-6.

Hell, it's borderline criminal that there isn't one for Dream Warriors. We're only talking the genre's greatest sequel here, even superior to most original horror flicks.

I recall reading years back that there is a Dream Master commentary with Renny Harlin, but it was only released in Europe. No idea if that's for real or not.

This was one of my favorite threads on the old forum in years past. Maybe we can get it rolling again.

I was watching part 2 tonight and spotted something I'd never noticed before. In the flaming toaster scene. Jesse's little sister appears to have a black eye. Was it just makeup, like the filmmakers were suggesting she wasn't sleeping well either because of Jesse's issues? But it's practically a fucking shiner lol.

A Nightmare on Elm Street / Re: Hidden face on 1984 poster?

I'm not seeing it at all. I'd guess a simple case of what they call "Matrixing" on your part.

There is a much bigger issue with that poster anyway. It's false advertising. Nancy does not sleep topless at any point in the film.

Horror (General) / Re: The COVID-19 Horror Film Marathon

It's hard to believe this shit has been going on since March with no clear end in sight. I've watched countless movies throughout the spring and summer, but not many I hadn't seen a bazillion times.

The only new movie I've watched recently was "We Summon The Darkness." I mistakenly thought it was a vampire movie at first. It's not even supernatural themed. But it was a mildly fun period piece set in 1988...and Alexandra Daddario was all the justification I needed.

Watched Nightmares 4 & 5, respectively, the last two nights. They are the summer Nightmares for sure. Not just because of their release dates but their overall tone. I'm still not the biggest fan of The Dream Child, but it has its merits and is visually a beautiful movie. And Lisa Wilcox was just so fucking gorgeous. I can't truly hate on anything she's been in. It certainly wasn't Mark Hamill who got me through Watchers 4 lol.

Open Topics / Re: The Reading Circle

A couple months back I discovered the 80's Slasher Librarian on YouTube. He has done narrations for over 50 out-of-print horror novelizations, including ANOES 1-3, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Freddy Vs. Jason, the Black Flame novels, and Freddy Krueger's Seven Sweetest Dreams. He will be doing ANOES 4 & 5 too very shortly.

I've listened to many of his recordings for various Nightmare, Halloween, and F13 novels and they are terrific. Highly recommended. He has done Child's Play books and Final Destination as well.

A Nightmare on Elm Street / Re: The Future of Elm Street

I voted for choice #1, but I have no particular hope we will get a Freddy flick in the next few years. In fact, it wouldn't shock me if Jason made it back to the screen first, despite being in a worse place (the courtroom) than development hell.

Have either of the Craven children even made a public statement about the future of the franchise? The idea that they have any interest in getting a film made is starting to feel like baseless assumption.
